Log in to the client area, click Domains then My Domains, select your domain and choose Nameservers in the Manager sidebar. Enter at least two nameserver addresses and click Change Nameservers. The change can take up to 48 hours to reach everyone, so some visitors may see the old site until it completes. Shared hosting uses ns0.thundercloud.uk and ns1.thundercloud.uk by default.
Nameservers direct traffic to your domain by storing DNS records that point to your website and email server, among other services. You need to change nameservers when moving your domain to new hosting or configuring external services like Cloudflare.
You will update nameserver settings through your client area. The registry for .uk, .co.uk and .com domains lets resolvers cache the old nameservers for 48 hours, so the change takes that long to reach everyone.
All shared hosting plans use these nameservers by default. This includes standard and premium plans as well as reseller packages. These values ensure your DNS records connect correctly to your hosting package.
ns0.thundercloud.uk ns1.thundercloud.uk
You can create custom nameservers based on your own domain names if you want to white-label your service. VPS hosting customers receive private nameservers during the build process because the VPS acts as its own DNS host.
You will access your domain settings and update the nameserver configuration. Incorrect nameservers often make a website appear broken, so verify the values before saving.

A resolver that looked up your domain before the change keeps using the old nameservers until its cached copy of the registry’s delegation expires, which takes up to 48 hours for .uk, .co.uk and .com domains. During this period, some visitors may see your old site while others see the new one as DNS servers update their cached records.
Your domain now points to the new nameservers. Within 48 hours, all traffic routes through the updated configuration. You can verify the change by checking your domain’s DNS records using online lookup tools.
